The government and its empowered group of ministers recently accepted most of Kirit Parikh Committee’s recommendations to deregulate fuel prices.
The petrol price were increased by Rs.3.50 a litre and the diesel price hiked by Rs. 2 a litre, which is still around Rs.1.50 less than the market price. Check out Kirit Parikh’s interview in which he dispels fears of inflation and excessive burden on the consumers and suggests how these reforms will help reduce fiscal deficit and increase private participation in this sector.
We offer Kirit Parikh who is also part of the Board of Scholars at Centre for Civil Society congratulations for achieving this feat!
