The Research Internship Program Researching Reality provides a greatly valued and needed learning experience in real-life application of social and economic principles and in teaching college students the skills of research, analysis, writing, and above all critical thinking.
This year we received an overwhelming 205 applications of which only 16 were selected, 10 of whom are to be based in Delhi and 6 in other specified cities. The interns are now working on projects related to the sectors of education and livelihoods. To learn more about the projects and the progress made so far please visit our CCS internship blog.
CCS organized a number of sessions with prominent experts and resource persons to assist the interns build their capacity as researchers and critical thinkers. To name a few, Gurcharan Das took a session on ‘Liberalism and India’s Education Sector’ which considered India’s economic progress and the role of education. Amit Kaushik from Pratham provided the historical narrative of educational policies and also gave insights on how public policies are made. Avni Kapur, from Accountability Initiative also provided invaluable details on how to understand government budgets. We thank all resource persons for their contribution and look forward to continue working with interns on finding innovative policy solutions to everyday problems.
